“Angel Tree” with First Lady Daniela Schadt for the Children’s Republic of Colombia

On December 4th, the Ambassadors Club hosted its Christmas charity event “Angel Tree” under the auspices of Daniela Schadt, partner of the Federal President Joachim Gauck. The ambassadors from around the world gathered traditionally for the last 10 years Christmas gifts for children in difficult circumstances and donated these to social institutions.

This year, the Children’s Republic “Benposta” in Bogotá, Colombia receives the Christmas presents. Mrs. Schadt had visited the institution itself in May this year, which is a haven for children from the slums and civil war regions of Colombia. The stories of young people about their life stories but also about their hopes for the future touched Mrs. Schadt a lot: “Benposta is emblematic of the effort that has to make this beautiful country Colombia to overcome the consequences of the civil war. And I wish the inhabitants of Colombia with all my heart that this will succeed in the near future.”

Gladly Mrs. Schadt has therefore agreed, in collaboration with H.E. Mr. Juan Mayr Maldonado, the Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia and Mrs. Mania Feilcke-Dierck, President of the Ambassadors Club, not only to send gifts to the Children’s Republic, but also to express for Christmas sympathy for the destiny of the children and to give them a Christmas greeting.

The festive reception hosted at the Hotel Regent Berlin. Hotel Director Stefan Athmann and Silvio Rahr, director of Helios Clinics, were delighted with the 130 satisfied guests, who came into the Christmas spirit by the singing performance by the Young ClassX.
